The data shows that there are still significant racial discrepancies among coaches in various position categories in 2022, which is indicative of unconscious preconceptions.

USA TODAY Sports discovered coaches of colour are still disproportionately concentrated in jobs with traditionally limited chances for development, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

Twenty-nine of the league’s 31 running backs coaches this season — or 93% — are coaches of color. Coaches for wide receivers are 70% non-white.
