Scientists claim that Saturn is "tilted" because a moon collided with it.

According to a recent research, Saturn is tilted because one of its moons hit it and caused the collision.

There is clearly something strange about our close neighbour even in photos:

Approximately a 25-degree angle separates its orbit around the Sun from the motion of its rings.

Less is known about how it became tilted, however astronomers believe Neptune, a close neighbour, may have had anything to do with it because of how similar the tilt is to Neptune's orbit.

Scientists now contend that the two originally orbited in perfect harmony or resonance with one another.

According to a recent study, that alignment was disrupted in the past when a moon created mayhem between the two.

Saturn currently has 83 moons. But in the past, it could have had an additional satellite—now missing—that researchers have given the name Chrysalis.

According to astronomers, the numerous moons kept Saturn in perfect alignment with Neptune and maintained that smooth resonance for billions of years.

Chrysalis, though, felt out of that orderly alignment and veered dangerously close to Saturn itself some 160 million years ago.
